15 Minutes to a Cleaner House

Yes, you read that right. There are many websites that have one version or another of this “game”. The way you play the 15 minute game is you set a timer for 15 minutes and clean as much as you can until the timer beeps. I go one step further and post just how much I’ve accomplished on facebook or or privately with a couple of friends for a little competition  This helps boost me even more as I all want to be the one who has cleaned the most.

15 minutes to a cleaner house

To give an example, I played the 15 minute game a few times yesterday. Here is my list of what I cleaned:

  • First 15 min: found a missing toy to appease the crying toddler and then tidied up the toys in his room. (not a lot done, but yay for small victories!)
  • Next 15 min: unloaded/reloaded dishwasher, organized tupperware area (again doesn’t seem like much… yet)
  • Another 15 minutes: tidied family room, cleaned out pots and pans and small appliances cabinets (now we are getting somewhere!)
  • Last 15 minutes: tidied living and dining room, sorted laundry, another unload/reload of dishes.

So in 1 hour yesterday, I tackled my bigger projects (cabinet clean-out) and tidied the common areas of the house. I got to relax with a glass of wine at the end of the day, not feeling stressed about the housework.

Do you do the 15 minute cleaning game?
